Diamonds usualy measured in Carat Weight (One carat weighs are 200 milligrams). Diamond is referred to as four grains (means that it is a one carat diamond). The word Carat comes from the word carob that is a bean that grows in the Mediterranean.
In times past, a diamond weighed the same as a carob bean means that it was one carob, or one carat.
